Who We Are and How We Work

GBCHealth serves as a hub for private sector engagement on the world's most pressing global health issues. Since 2001, GBCHealth has worked with hundreds of members — individually and in partnership with one other — to tackle the challenges of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, diabetes and other health issues facing the workplace and communities where business is conducted.

Created by an initial coalition of 17 visionary companies under founding President and CEO Richard C. Holbrooke, GBCHealth was the "Global Business Coalition in HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria" until June 2011. It was renamed GBCHealth in recognition of an expanding array of health areas in which business has the potential to play a critical role.

Through world-class convenings, partnership creation, thought leadership and representation in key global health settings, GBCHealth has established itself as the go-to organization for companies interested in bringing their assets, skills and passion to the quest for a healthier world.

Every GBCHealth member has a unique set of needs and desires in its engagement on health issues. GBCHealth supports companies through these methods:

  • Convene and connect businesses, governments, multilaterals and civil society
  • Drive the creation of high-impact partnerships and collective actions
  • Represent the business sector in key global health settings, providing recognition and visibility to members
  • Provide thought leadership on best practices and brightest ideas in support of business engagement on health
  • Provide advisory services and guidance
